Step 1: Information where to contact, where to fill a form

First thing first, we're glad that you found us and are interested in cooperating with us. In this step, you just need to fill in a short form here so that we have a general idea of your company's profession, focus, products. During the meeting, we will hear your wishes for development. You may visualize your plan on the new innovation that is planned to be implemented in the future. You may show us your expectations, targets and what questions you want us to help answer. Then our Core team will define the need for innovation and the scope of the project based on the requirements and information you gave us.

Step 3: Our offer

Our Core team will introduce the offers customized specifically for your project, based on the scope and expected workload. We want to make the offer after hearing your wishes so that we can design the plan and make adjustments accordingly. Once you accept the offer, we will move on to the next step.

Step 4: Kicking-off

After accepting the offer, the rest of the project will be carefully taken care of by The Lab team. We will clearly define the responsibilities, schedule,

targets and make sure that the plans and deadlines are strictly followed. Then, we will have a kick-off meeting with the teams, presenting the goals, plans and responsibilities. Finally, when every preparation is done and the project has been strategically divided into cycles to assure the best performance, we will start launching the first cycle.

The Lab mission is to implement innovation projects for companies that do not have internal innovation development teams. As soon as we take up the project, a well-divided process is followed, making sure that each project is executed in innovation cycles, where each is launched as a catalyst from the previous one. This enables our team to fully contribute to the development project as well as put our best effort to focus on each phase.

A project would not be called a success without good team spirit. At The Lab, we always take pride in the whole crew that consists of consultants and students, who have experience in researching and project working. With that being said, our teams are able to efficiently digest and process a whole lot of information related to the development topic and requirements by the client company in a short amount of time. During the program, as the need for innovation is researched, we are able to make use of external niche experts and professionals to boost productivity and time efficiency.

We execute all sorts of projects for all companies. Our clients have a variety of needs and we always start with research. What’s needed? How much can we do? What’s responsible for this lack of innovation? What can we learn from other companies? Through this research, we develop a set of action items that can be implemented by our clients.

The innovative working method can for example be applied for companies which have not yet activated in terms of all sustainable frameworks and therefore, used as a stepping stone towards these values.

The Lab enables students, professionals and companies from different backgrounds, study or professional fields and nationalities to unite as one team and collaborate in innovative working practices. All coordinating, management and project working is communicated in English. For this reason, the project creates several opportunities for foreign students and professionals to gain experience in project working in Nordic manners and values. This experience is anticipated to open doors for any participants and project workers for sustainable employment status in the Nordic countries with, for example, experience, diplomas and scholarships.

Why are we the best choice?

The Lab also introduces freelancer-working across industries by educating about the local and supporting values for entrepreneurship. The Lab is coordinated from Finland, but joining the project does not require living in Finland, since remote working tools and manners allow new projects of The Lab to expand to other countries and continents. Partnerships, universities and collaborations from clients to project working teams and professionals have direct access for joining and recruiting each cycle online. The pilot team (currently 17 people) and weekly meetings are fully managed online with weekly checklists and briefs.

The Lab’s innovation program has welcomed all people regardless of their abilities or disabilities, nationality, location, minorities, and they have all had the same right to be respected as valuable team members. As an example of the successful recruiting process for the research and project management teams, The Lab has 14 different nationalities currently participating in the pilot run. 14 out of 17 people in The Lab pilot team are women.

The Lab Core Team carefully picks up talents from a diverse range of degree programs and fields, forming project teams which are responsible for impactful projects. Normally, The Lab will base on the requirements of the challenge to divide of the innovation program into subcategories that will be assigned to specialized teams including research, engineer, design, management, and innovation. Each project team is made up of young professionals from a variety of communities and universities, ensuring the workflow from the coming up of fresh ideas to practical implementation regarding sustainability and inclusion to a company’s challenge.

The Lab’s objective is to give companies a hassle-free experience of academic research that will leads to decisions that might influence the future and at the same time creating the opportunity for the Project Team to have real life experience on working on innovative projects for real clients. While working with The Lab, the Project team workers have an opportunity to gain study credits from their university courses in accordance with their curricula or through extracurricular innovation projects. Core team bridges the gap between the company and the project team. The goals include coordinating that the challenge is moving in accordance to The Lab’s four stage cycle and that the companies need for innovation are met. The core team focuses on mentoring the Project Team throughout the four-stage cycle and assists where needed.

The Lab first ever project is carried out in three cycles, where the first one consists of information collection and research. The second cycle is the solution phase, where different solution models are evaluated together with professionals and conclude. In the last phase, potential solutions are reviewed and analysed by the target group and professionals. The Lab project ends with a comprehensive report presented to the client. In the end, the company will get a comprehensive analysis of the problem in addition to truly impactful solution models. The fundamental goal of the pilot innovation program is to develop and gain understanding of what food culture, consuming and production will be like in 2030 from the perspective of the uprising generation - The Gen Z.
